To add the illusion of movement, I added some mud splash around the boots.
I cut tiny triangle/wedges out of transparent paper. Glued the pieces around the boot and covered the wedges w/ a mixture of 3 minute epoxy glue and a tiny drob of burnt umber acrylic paint. I then manipulated the glue to give it that "splash" look.
I'll go back now and paint the boots a more darker color and give it a little wash of gloss varnish.

Jason, Those two little splashes really add a lot of drama to the figure. What a great little touch.~Gary

I never would have thought of that! It is a nice touch.

What did you use for the snow? I've been pondering the highlanders base. I think it's too bare and some slushy snow might be nice for contrast.

Big ol' pile of heads and armatures for the St. Privat project.
