MFCA Pics #5 Mike Blank's "Wings of Darkness"

Mike Blank does it again! Another superb vignette created by the miniature artist. Wonderfully composed, painted, etc. If a figure modeler wants to find inspiration, look no further. I need to build a mounted piece...Soon!

MFCA Pics #2

I'm sure most who follow my blog, have seen these pieces already via other social media... And I'm really not sure why I bother posting them, for there are much better quality pics to be seen. Anyway, my apologies. For those who have not...Enjoy!

MFCA 2014 Pics

Another MFCA Show has come and gone. Time flew by with so much to see and so little time. I come home so inspired that I wish I could bottle up some of the show and open it up when feeling unmotivated while sitting at the workbench. Here's a few pics that managed to take when not talking shop and checking out the vendor tables.

Two for the road.

I love leaving for a show and having the workbenches CLEAN of projects. Here are two that I managed to finish over the past few weeks. The Swedish kettle-drummer is a Historex conversion and the small vignette are 28mm AWI British soldiers from Perry Miniatures. The Perry figures are very nice with lots of detail, however they would look much better in a larger vignette or diorama. Rumor has it, that their Continentals have just been released. I better get more practice with this scale.

British Marine 1775

Here's some in progress pics of a project I completed a few weeks ago. If you know who's painting I got the idea for the tavern sign, you are a sick art geek and there is no cure for you.

Rev War American Dragoon

MFCA is fast approaching and it's crunch time! I'll be posting more regularly in the next couple weeks with all new finished projects. To start off, an American dragoon from the AWI. This must be the year of the flower, as most of my latest pieces include Fredericus RexGreen Line blumen something or other. Great stuff and helps the figure pop.

"Sir Francis Drake"

Alexandros Models' Sir Francis Drake. A wonderful sculpture. A ton of detail. A joy to paint. The sculptor, Angel Terol, did a brilliant job. His attention to detail is eye poping...and straining. Just when I thought I was finished paining an area on the piece, I go back over and find MORE to paint. I cursed him, yet praised him at the same time for his sculpting talents. Painted with acrylics.

WSS Black Powder Part 3

The Allies were really put on the back-foot in this battle. Their left flank took some deadly volleys and rolled poorly in the break test ph...
