Thanks, pard! The horse looks much better in person. And the saddle blanket turned out much than I thought it would.
The whole saddle blanket came out very nice. I like the highlights overall.
It's wierd. I just painted a confederate horse with the same tack (but he's a chestnut). What color did you use for the horse? It's a nice bay color.

Thanks, Wendy! To be honest, I did not keep notes on the colors I used. Reading you post made me go back and look up the numbers I may have used.
I do know I used 941 Burnt Umber for the base. 984 Flat Brown for the highlight. 846 Mahogany Brown for the extreme highlights. I may have used black in there for the deep shadows. Note all those colors were mixed w/ one another in certain ratios to get the color I wanted. Actually, In person the horse looks more chestnut than bay. Next time I want a bay horse, I'll use less reddish browns.
